Simple solutions take a lifetime to master.

The book of James gives us very specific direction for trouble in life and once we finally realize that Gods Word is there as a guide to follow and start walking out our faith, we find it was all quite simple. It was our willingness to follow HIS lead that has been the problem all along ;-)

James 5:13-16
Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. 16Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

If you study this passage out in the spirit and pull out word meanings (which is a passion of mine) you will find this passage says much more than what people originally discern.

1. Any time there is trouble you should approach God in prayer about it. He is the source of your strength and the provision of your power. Simple and effective faith.

 2. Don’t forget that in times of trouble, we can still be happy. It is wise to truly escallate your moments of happiness to a pure and sincere praise of God for allowing even another day in your life. The best medicine for the spirit of the antichrist is a spirit of praise to Our Lord Jesus Christ.
SING!!!!!! DANCE!!!!!! LAUGH!!!!!!! HAVE FUN IN HIS NAME!!!!!!
Remember that each day we are given is a gift from God and woe to the man that takes these precious gifts for granted and squanders them away in a spirit of anxiety.

3. Anointing someone with oil meant a very different thiing then what the church has made it today. It was not a symbolic gesture of blessing and power back then. IT WAS MEDICAL ATTENTION. When you have a sickness, seek the wisdom of the doctors God created and put in place to help you and couple that with the prayer of the saints (believers) to combine the medical treatment with the power of the Holy Spirit.

4. Confession brings freedom. Find a close mentor or accountability partner in the Lord that will hear your confessions and encourage you WITHOUT condemning you. You must be able to release your sin in the comfort of love, mercy and forgiveness for the Holy Spirit to heal your soul and cleanse your life. Be sure that you do not surround yourself with “yes men” who simply tell you what you want to hear, and thereby prevent your true spiritual growth.

WOW!!!! GOD IS SO SMART!!!
Be blessed,
Pastor Chris ;-)
Reverend Chris Horne is pastor of The Bridge, a small church in Ladson, South Carolina. Serving the Lord since 2000 she has a heart for the lost and feels if we are to EVER make a difference in this world we have to get off our religious "high-horse" and truly start loving people in the name of Christ. We may be the only Bible some people ever read!?!
